I designed this as part of my Interior Design Diploma.
My assigned clients were looking to update their downstairs living space to better suit their growing family’s lifestyle and evolving tastes. With two children and a love for entertaining, they needed a space that felt open, practical, and welcoming—somewhere they could relax, connect, and enjoy time with guests.
Working from a detailed brief, I created a calming, characterful space that balances their love of bold colours with Scandinavian-inspired neutrals. The design reflects the family’s shared values—sustainability, comfort, and connection—while subtly nodding to Bristol’s creativity and the home’s late mid-century heritage.
The final concept includes a sustainably made coffee table, a mid-century-style armchair, and a small selection of decorative accessories to bring personality and warmth. Everything was designed to work within a set budget and complement existing built-in shelving, resulting in a cohesive and thoughtful family space.
